Stych explained: “The car got carried away by the current and crashed into the bridge. [the woman in the car] He responded at the time: ‘I have a child in the car.’ I went up to the bridge and took the baby out. Then the car moved with every movement she made. “I ran to my truck, got a ratchet strap, and held the car to the bridge while I pulled the woman out.”

How did the witness describe the scene?

According to a witness, Stych “just jumped out, broke the window and grabbed the baby.”

He went on to say, “He took a rope out of his car, tied it to the railing, to the bridge, and then he pulled the lady out and saved them both.”

In statements to the BBC, he defined himself as a human being with excellent instincts but emphasized that he was not a hero. If he were faced with the same situation, Stych stated that he would “do it over and over again.”
