The parents of twin boys, who were the targets of Letby’s attempted murder, shared their harrowing journey, from the initial joy of birth to the heart-wrenching ordeal of witnessing medical staff fight tirelessly to sustain their fragile lives.
Unaware of the alarming events, it was only two years later, when law enforcement reached out, that they came to comprehend the unsettling truth.
“It didn’t have to be that many,” the father told Sky News, asking why hospital bosses had not acted sooner to stop more babies from being attacked. He said he felt “very let down” by the hospital.
Ultimately, Letby was there when the twin boys were born, and the parents were overjoyed to become new parents. But things turned nasty when another nurse rushed into their room, asking them to come downstairs. The father was shocked to see doctors working hard to save his child’s life.
The father recalled feeling overwhelmed and not understanding what was happening.
He noticed that other nurses seemed worried, but Letby appeared calm.
Both twins survived, but one has lasting brain damage, which worries his parents about his future.
The father shared that this experience has changed him, causing him to suffer from sleepless nights and depression. To look into this matter further, the government has called for an independent inquiry, which will also examine how the concerns of medical professionals were handled.
