Unbelievers celebrate: this is how you can protect conversations on WhatsApp with a password

Recently, the famous instant messaging application announced the implementation of a function that allows users of the platform to protect their chats within the application with a password or biometric data.

Starting in September, WhatsApp users will be able to protect certain conversations that require privacy, such as planning a surprise, in three easy steps:

  1. Tap Chat Info on the chat you want to block > Chat Blocking.
  2. Tap Lock this chat with fingerprint or Lock this chat with Face ID.
  3. Tap View to view the chat in the locked chats folder.

By performing these steps, more personal conversations will be moved to a separate folder from the main home page.

The people you chat with won’t know that you’re blocking the conversation, and if you want to block an archived chat, you must first unarchive it and then block it.

The new alternative aims to ensure that Internet users’ conversations have an extra layer of security; since the social network is looking for ways “to protect and guarantee the privacy of messages.”

So far, this new chat protection function has only reached users of the Android operating system, iPhone users will have to wait.

“Thanks to this feature, users can protect certain conversations, allowing them to access locked chats only through a password or biometric authentication,” WhatsApp said in a statement.
