Undercover operation: police and car theft suspect attacked by swarm of wasps during raid

This is not your typical undercover operation.

Seattle police officers and a carjacking suspect were attacked by a swarm of wasps when the insect hive was unknowingly disturbed during a raid, according to newly released body camera footage.

The painful incident unfolded when officers responded to a call about a series of attempted carjackings in the East Queen Anne neighborhood on Aug. 13 in which a suspect used a knife to try to steal vehicles as they passed through a tunnel.

Police quickly swooped on a 22-year-old suspect, who then fled into a wooded area and ignored officers’ orders to surrender.

The video shows the police chasing and eventually catching the suspect, but when they knock him to the ground, they are all quickly surrounded by the angry wasps, whose nest was right next to them.

“Ah! “They’re biting me, man,” one of the officers can be heard saying.

Another cop yells, “There’s yellow jackets everywhere, buddy!”

The insects can be seen covering the officers and the suspect, stinging them repeatedly as the cops let out grunts of pain and tried to rush out of the woods with the accused car thief.

Officers can be heard telling the suspect, “It’s over,” as they urge him to hurry up and escape the wasps.

The officers finally remove the suspect while continuing to bite and offer him water when he is finally handcuffed and inside a police vehicle.

The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, along with an officer who suffered a cut to his arm during the arrest.

The unidentified suspect was later booked into the King County Jail on charges of assault, destruction of property and attempted robbery.

This isn’t the first time a police officer has been caught on video by angry bugs.

In May, a volunteer police officer and Air Force veteran was stung up to 100 times by a swarm of bees while trying to evacuate a neighborhood besieged by the insects after a construction worker inadvertently disturbed their massive nest in Los Angeles. .
