University of California-Berkeley sued by students for ‘rampant’ anti-Semitism

Jewish students have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit accusing the University of California of allowing the “longstanding and rampant spread of anti-Semitism” on its Berkeley campus.

The lawsuit claims that hatred of Jews has “boomed over” following the Hamas terrorist group’s October 7 sneak attack on Israel, even citing statements in the complaint by Cal-Berkeley Law School Dean Erwin Chemerinsky himself. .

In the lawsuit filed Tuesday in the Northern California District Court in San Francisco, plaintiffs representing Jewish students (the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law and American Jews for Educational Equity) They noted that about two dozen student groups ban Zionist speakers.

Jewish students and teachers also receive hate mail calling for their gassing and murder. Many Jewish students say they are afraid to go to class, according to the lawsuit.

New York universities have also been criticized for alleged anti-Semitism.
