The State Department said Saturday that 29 Americans were killed by Hamas terrorists during their brutal Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel, adding two more American citizens to the tragic toll.
Another 16 Americans (15 citizens and one legal permanent resident) remain missing, a State Department official told CNN.
“The US government is working around the clock to determine his whereabouts and is working with the Israeli government on all aspects of the hostage crisis,” the official said.
The slain Americans have not been officially identified, but several families, including that of Cindy Flash, 67, a Minnesota native who had advocated for Palestinian rights, have come forward to talk about their lost loved ones.
Flash and her Israeli-born husband Igal were killed in the safe room of their home on Kibbutz Kfar Aza, their daughter Keren said.
“They were good people,” Keren said of her parents.
