What did this American politician do?
A Republican figure has caused a stir by sharing a video in which he uses a flamethrower to set LGBTQ-inclusive books on fire.
Valentina Gómez, candidate for Missouri secretary of state, posted the video as part of her campaign efforts. In the images, Gómez declares: “This is what I will do with the grooming books when I am Secretary of State.
These books come from a public library in Missouri. When she is in office, they will burn them.” The 24-year-old claims that, if she is elected, she will incinerate all the books that, in her opinion, “groom, indoctrinate and sexualize children.”
The video, released through her official website, Facebook and Instagram, shows her using a flamethrower to burn two specific books.
The titles up for grabs appear to be ‘Queer: The Ultimate LGBTQ Guide for Teens’ and ‘Naked: Not Your Average Sex Encyclopedia.’
