Usgaonkar became famous in 1984 as the lead heroine of the hit Marathi play Brahmachari. She began her television career in 1988 as Uttara, wife of Abhimanyu and mother of Parikshit in the series Mahabharata. She also played Roopmati in 1994 in the television series Chandrakanta.
