It is similar to Vat Savitri Vrat where married women observe a full day fast for the welfare and happiness of their husbands. In the Amanta calendar, Vat Savitri Vrat, also called Vat Purnima Vrat, is observed during Jyeshtha Purnima.

This year, Vat Purnima Vrat will be observed on June 3, 2023. According to Drik Panchang, Purnima Tithi will begin at 3:36 p.m. on June 3 and end at 1:41 p.m. on June 4, 2023.
Vat Purnima Vrat 2023: Significance
According to legend, the great Savitri tricked Lord Yama, the lord of death, into forcing him to bring her husband Satyawan back to life. Therefore, married women observe Vat Purnima Vrat for the welfare and long life of her husbands.

King Ashvapati and Queen Malawi once ruled a kingdom called Madra where they bowed down to God Savitr. When they had a daughter, they named her Savitri. She lived an austere life in the kingdom, and when she was older, the king’s father asked her to go find a husband for her at her own expense. She decided to marry Satyavan, the son of the exiled King Dyumatsenec.
Lord Narad Muni warned him that Satyvan would pass away within a year. Savitri, however, married Satyawn and moved to the forest with her husband. As the days passed, Savitri placed Satyawan’s body under a banyan tree on the day of her death. Lord Yama came to take his soul from him, but Savitri pleaded with Yamaraj, who was moved by his tenacity and told her to request three boons of his choice instead of taking Satyavan’s life.

She requested her first blessing for the peaceful and graceful return of her in-laws to her kingdom while they were in exile. For her second favor, she asked for a son for her father. As a last blessing, she demanded the children of her. Yama considered her options before deciding to leave Satyavan alive. Satyavan then woke up and Savitri circled the Banyan tree. Savitri had the power to protect the life of her husband.
Vat Purnima Vrat 2023: Vidhi Puja
On this special occasion, married women get up early in the morning, clean their houses and take a bath before performing the puja rituals. After bathing, they wear traditional clothes and adorn themselves with ornaments, just like newlyweds. Visit the temple and offer your prayers to the tree by offering water, kumkum, flowers, fruits, akshat and sweets. Now perform parikrama or circumambulate seven times with a sacred thread around the tree. Listen and recite the Vat Savitri katha and offer bhog to the deity and needy people.
