Vikas Kumar started his career with the television police series Powder as Umesh Jagdale which aired on Sony TV in 2010. He played Senior Inspector Damodar Deshmukh in the police series Khotey Sikkey in 2011. The show is about an unlikely group of five privileged young men. and a stubborn police officer. From 2012 to 2013, he appeared in the Sony TV police procedural series CID as Senior Inspector Rajat.
In 2012, Vikas appeared in the film Handover as Ratan Das. He appeared in the film Prithipal Singh… A Story as Prithipal Singh in 2015. In 2017, he acted in the film Ajji as Dastur. The film was positioned as a dark vision of the classic fairy tale. The following year, he played the role of Abhay in the drama film Hamid in 2018.
