Please be advised that four members of a family in Allen were found dead inside their home on Monday, August 28, 2023. The Allen Police Department is treating the case as a murder-suicide. A senior officer with the Allen Police Department said this is an apparent case of murder-suicide. The family’s neighbors are currently in disbelief and despair, completely perplexed by the motive for the murder-suicide. Among the four victims, two were parents and two were children. An investigation has been launched into this case and police are talking to neighbors who have known the family for a long time. The Allen Islamic Association has identified the victims. What happened to Farman Sherwani?
Allen police received a call from a concerned family member who is a grandmother on Monday. The grandmother could not enter the house because she was locked outside for two hours. She heard the sound of gunshots. Therefore, she dialed the emergency number to ask the police for help. In the morning hours, Allen police officers arrived shortly after and somehow managed to enter the house. After invading the house, the police found four bodies: husband, wife and two children.
Reports also suggest that this family also lost a 4-year-old daughter earlier this month in a drowning incident. Her daughter was known as Lyian Sherwani. Police also confirmed the names of the victims: her husband Farman Sherwani, her wife Layla Sherwani, her younger son Mateen Sherwani and her elder son Shaheen Sherwani. Mateen was 2 years old and Shaheen was 12 years old. So far, authorities have not determined the motive for the murder-suicide. Furthermore, it is not confirmed who the murderer was who subsequently committed suicide. The Islamic Association announced a funeral for the family.
Abdul Rahman Bashir, director or imam of the mosque, said: “This is definitely news that no one is willing to wake up to hear, much less family members, but even members of the congregation who perhaps did not even know them. . From what I understand, they were a very close family. Few brothers lived on the same street, within walking distance of each other.” He further added that Farman’s family was already going through a difficult situation with the tragic death of his 4-year-old daughter.
