The Bay City Rollers reportedly sold over 150 million records and gave UK chart hits such as Give A Little Love and Bye Bye Baby which both peaked at #1 in the UK. Another chart hit for the band was Saturday Night, which went to #1 in the US. In 1978, the band broke up, but returned from sexual abuse allegations and money problems to death.
The band was originally titled “Original Roller” which was founded by Alan Longmuir along with his drummer brother Derek Longmuir in 1966. Alan was 17 years old at the time. In 2018, Alan passed away at the age of 70. The musician died after suffering a heart attack and stroke. He was suffering from an unknown illness when he was admitted to a hospital in Mexico.
