Amara Valerio is an American singer and songwriter. She is one of the contestants on American Idol 23. The show is judged by Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. She is a former Yonkers Junior Idol and Yonkers Idol contestant. If she is successful, Amara will be the first Yonkers Idol to appear on American Idol.

Born in Yonkers, Amara Valerio graduated from Yonkers Montessori Academy in 2020. She also attended Cornell University to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies.

Career
Valerio performed “Bust Your Windows” by Jazmine Sullivan during the American Idol audition. She was “Kanye’d” while singing the National Anthem at her high school graduation ceremony. This infamous mishap quickly went viral and Katy, Luke and Lionel were filled with outrage after watching the incident unfold.
