After allegedly stabbing three other teens in the Massachusetts town of Middleborough, one teen is now being charged with numerous crimes. According to Middleborough Police Chief Joseph Perkins, 18-year-old Jayden Wainwright was taken into custody early Saturday and now faces three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and one count of attempted murder. Perkins claimed that around 12:05 a.m., a 911 call was made stating that multiple people had been stabbed near power lines on Wall Street. The stabbings took place during a bonfire to commemorate the end of the school year, according to three witnesses who spoke with NewsCenter 5 reporter Danae Bucci. When responding police officers arrived, they discovered two stabbing victims who were 19-year-old residents of Carver. According to Perkins, one of the victims had multiple stab wounds to the torso and she was taken in critical condition to Boston Medical Center. The other 19-year-old was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford after receiving multiple stab wounds to the leg. Perkins reported that a third victim, a 15-year-old Middleborough boy who had been stabbed in the leg, was transported by a private individual to Tobey Hospital in Wareham. Wainwright was arrested as a result of the Middleborough Police investigation into the stabbings.
Wainwright is being held at the Plymouth County House of Correction after being ordered held on $25,000 bond. According to Perkins, he will be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday.
