The viral video shows a pen circling each pair of digits, starting with 12 and 1, then 11 and 2, 10 and 3, and so on. People are terrified by the “coincidence” of all the numbers adding up to 13 and one of them writes: “My math teacher didn’t teach me this.”

“The Gregorian calendar, the calendar system we currently use, is based on 12 months,” another speculated. The original Sol or international fixed calendar, on the other hand, is based on 13 months.”

And there was plenty of evidence to support this idea. “There are 13 because humans look for patterns and find them, even if they don’t mean anything,” criticized one. “A watch is just a watch.” “It’s like every hour of the day is unfortunate,” said another. “That explains a few things, I guess.”

How are some others reacting?

Some claim that the number is now “disappearing” on them, as one said: “I guess 13 because there are 13 signs of the zodiac if you include the male sign.” Many people, however, pointed out that this is simply a “very easy” answer.

“We start with 12+1 and work our way down in circles, which means the clock reads +1 to the right and -1 to the left, which means the end result will always be the same… 13.”
