Ontario officers are under fire after news of a prisoner’s death broke. Reports indicate that the inmate died while awaiting trial in an Ontario jail. The deceased was identified as Anthony (Anth) Peter Chatzimanolakis, originally from Canada. He made the news after news of his arrest broke in the newspapers and many charges against him, including motor vehicle theft, criminal harassment and a loaded gun without consent. He was in custody and awaiting trial, but soon after his death was shared online, leaving people shocked and wondering what happened to him.

It’s obvious that the Chatzimanolakis family is in deep grief as Anthony leaves the world. After Anthony’s death, people want to know more details about it. Reports indicate that he was arrested on September 15, 2022 on charges including possession of a loaded weapon and car theft. His case was still in court and Chatzimanolakis had not been sentenced. Carmello Truscello, Chatzimanolakis’ attorney, stated that his bail review hearing was scheduled for Friday, April 14, 2023, in Toronto.
His attorney reported that Anthony’s injuries from the 2019 car accident were beginning to burst while he awaited hearing. The prison reportedly planned surgery for Chatzimanolakis on November 3, 2022 at Sunnybrook Hospital, but the surgery was canceled for no apparent reason. The report states that she breathed her last on March 25, 2023 at the Toronto South Detention Center in Etobicoke. The news of his death is officially confirmed by the Ministry of the Attorney General. The ministry also said paramedics were called to the jail that day after staff observed an unresponsive prisoner in medical pain in his Anthony cell.
Apart from this, they did not give any further information as the investigation related to Anthony’s death was ongoing. Other than that, the family of the deceased reported that the initial autopsy hinted that his loved one may have lost her life after a drug overdose. However, it cannot be confirmed as the investigation is still ongoing. Supposedly, the funeral mass was planned for Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Greek Orthodox Church of Prophet Elijah. His family wants to know the reason for his sudden and unfortunate death. Reports indicate that at the time of his death, he was 30 years old, as he was born on November 25, 1992. He was the son of George and Lina and the brother of Melissa Chatzimanolakis. The whole family is in deep shock and at this moment we can only pray for the salvation of his soul.
