It was revenge for Thanksgiving.
A wild turkey became trapped in power lines in Sacramento, California, on Christmas Eve, leaving more than 4,000 homes and businesses without power when Santa Claus arrived.
“There was a turkey in the line and crews are working to fix it quickly and safely,” a Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) spokesperson told the Sacramento Bee.
The utility company reported that 4,248 customers were without power around 12:15 Sunday after the bird strike.
About 20 minutes later, a community group wrote online that they were receiving reports of people losing power.
“There is no electricity in parts of South Land Park. It’s been on and off again,” South Land Park Neighborhood Association published in X.
“Fingers crossed it doesn’t ruin the Christmas meals and festivities.”

Crews were quickly dispatched to repair the damage and there were no power outages as of 12:26 a.m. on Christmas Day, according to the SMUD website.
It is still unclear what caused the bird to get caught in the power lines and what happened to the turkey afterward.
The Post has reached out to SMUD for more information.
Turkeys have wreaked havoc in the Sacramento area for years, as nearly every part of the state faces a growing wild turkey population, according to the Bee.
The wild animals broke into homes and businesses, devoured cars in traffic, and even terrorized Amazon delivery drivers and mail carriers to the point that a mail carrier beat a turkey to death last year.
