Woman linked to suspect in murder of Illinois family of four found dead

A woman linked to the man accused of killing an Illinois family of four was pronounced dead after being fatally injured during a car crash in an apparent murder-suicide.

Ermalinda Palomo, considered a person of interest in the murders, was found with a gunshot wound in the passenger seat of her car, which suspect Nathaniel Huey Jr. crashed while trying to evade police, according to ABC 7.

She was in critical condition and was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Huey Jr., accused of murdering a couple, their two young children and three dogs inside their suburban Chicago home, died Wednesday in a fiery car crash.

An attorney representing Palomo’s family identified her and said she had been living with Huey.

Attorney John Paul Ivec said the mother of five, who also had five grandchildren, had no criminal record and was the victim of a murder-suicide. It was unclear who shot Palomo.

Huey, 31, had extensive firearms training and was described as a “very dangerous man.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Huey’s Facebook page, he mentioned Palomo as his “wife.”

The grandmother of five was reported missing by her family when she stopped texting them after sending a series of concerning messages, according to WGNTV.

The family and their three pets were shot and killed in what police said was “not a random incident.”

“The evidence has shown us a link between our suspects and the victims, as well as possible motives,” Romeoville Deputy Chief Chris Burne said at a news conference.

Palomo’s family said they are unaware of the alleged couple’s relationship with the deceased family, according to WGNTV.
