YNW Melly death sentence
On Monday, during the first day of the trial. the rapper’s legal representative asked prosecutors why he would kill his best friends and questioned the lack of motive for YNW Melly to kill rappers Christopher Thomas and Anthony Williams in 2018. David Howard, who is YNW Melly’s attorney, he argued in court, “After four years of investigation, the state comes in and says, ‘Hey, he killed two of his best friends.’ And you wonder why, and his response is, ‘Uh, I don’t know.’ That is the first indication that they are just guessing and do not know what they are talking about, ”he continues reading the article and knows what his lawyer argued.
David Howard said the prosecution’s investigation is incomplete and incompetent. Jamell Demons, affectionately known as YNW Melly, is facing two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly killing his two fellow rappers Thomas and Williams, who were shot to death in 2018. When the incident occurred, Miramar police said, Melly and the co-defendant Cortlen Henry hatched a conspiracy to kill William and Thomas and turn it into a drive-by shooting.
On the first day of the trial, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. Prosecutors indicted him in 2019 citing evidence of blood spatter, a bullet casing in his car and phone data as evidence to bring the murder charges. Kristine Bradley, the prosecutor in the case, told the court that evidence was lacking to prove Melly’s claim by her attorney that a drive-by shooting killed her two best friends. Bradley argued: “Miramar detectives…shut down the entire length of Miramar Parkway from 160 to 172. They walk side by side for an hour, that one-mile stretch, looking for evidence of that drive-by… In this case , the lack of evidence is very important. There is no evidence whatsoever to support that a car pass occurred on Miramar Parkway.”
