10 Countries with the most Miss Universe crowns in history

Many countries have won the most important beauty pageant in the world, such as Miss Universe, some have done it more than once.

The Miss Universe pageant was first held in Long Beach, California, on June 28, 1952.

The contest was organized by Pacific Mills, an intimate apparel company, and was hosted by actor Bob Barker. The first Miss Universe was Armi Kuusela, from Finland.

Mention that this Miss Universe pageant has been criticized for its beauty standards and its focus on physical appearance.

However, the pageant remains one of the most popular entertainment events in the world.

List of 10 Countries with the most Miss Universe crowns

1.United States

The country has nine crowns and these were its queens: Miriam Stevenson (1954), Carol Morris (1956), Linda Bement (1960), Sylvia Hitchcock (1967), Shawn Weatherly (1980), Chelsi Smith (1995), Brook Lee ( 1997), Olivia Culpo (2012) and current queen R’Bonney Gabriel (2022).

2.Venezuela

The Venezuelans have been consecrated seven times. They were: Maritza Sayalero (1979), Irene Sáez (1981), Bárbara Palacios (1986), Alicia Machado (1996), Dayana Mendoza (2008), Stefanía Fernández (2009) and Gabriela Isler (2013).

It should be noted that Venezuela is the only country that has had the opportunity to crown its successor for the second time. This happened with Dayana Mendoza in 2009 when she crowned her compatriot Stefanía Fernández.

3.Puerto Rico

5.Mexico

In the 72nd edition of this year’s contest, 85 candidates will participate for the crown, whose headquarters are in El Salvador.
