According to a TOI report, the fraudsters flaked the women by offering them work-from-home jobs and elicited a large sum of money by giving them these fake jobs.

The first woman, 32, was working with a private firm as a human resource manager when she got a ping offering her a work-from-home job. After the pandemic, working professionals have been inclined to take jobs that do offer flexible working conditions and prefer to stick to companies that offer work-from-home options.

So, it is not surprising that the woman was tempted to revert back to the job offer that fell into her lap. The woman, who is reportedly a resident of Bengaluru’s Nandini Layout area, grabbed the opportunity and replied to the message. Like any other job posting, she was asked to send in her documents and do a few tasks to get through the screening process.

How Did The Fraudsters Scam The Women?

The gag of the fraud was that the scammers told the woman that she would get Rs 7,000 every time she invested Rs 5,000. The offer tickled her fascination, so she ended up investing Rs 6 Lakhs into the scheme and later was rudely awakened to the fact that she had been cheated.

As for the second woman, the story had a few changes. She was a homemaker and revealed that she was approached for a work-from-home opportunity which eventually cost her Rs 67,000. She reportedly explained that a woman approached her with the work-from-home job which eventually turned out to be a hollow offer.

She revealed, “I was asked to complete 30 reviews for “I am London Airlines, which I did.” In the beginning, things were going well, the woman even got paid Rs 1,000 instantly when she turned in the work.

However, it was all a ploy to trap her. “Then they sent me some more reviews and asked me to deposit Rs 67,000, promising me a good return,” she added.

After she transferred the money, she could not contact the company and was left on read without her Rs 67K. Both cases took place on August 15. These are not the only cases that have recently surfaced in the city.
