2023 Rewind: Two women married to the same man create a ‘schedule’ to spend time with him

Many cultures and religions consider marriage a sacred bond. It is a legal contract between two people who promise to spend their lives together, share their joys and sorrows, and support each other through good times and bad.

Marriage is also frequently seen as a representation of the devotion, loyalty and fidelity of two people to each other. The concept of holy connection emphasizes the importance of commitment and the sincerity of the couple’s devotion.

However, whether or not one considers marriage a sacred relationship is subjective and can vary depending on one’s beliefs and values. And a man from Gurugram had completely different thoughts. In a unique story from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a man was able to organize an entire system to accommodate two wives and their two children.

In 2018, an engineer from Haryana working in Gurugram married 28-year-old Seema. During their two-year relationship, the couple had a son. When the coronavirus pandemic began in 2020, the husband made the decision to abandon his wife and son in his parents’ house. Seema stayed home as the lockdown continued, leaving her husband alone.

Where did he meet the second wife?

At that time, the spouse began an affair with a co-worker. Even though the man was in a long-distance marriage, the couple moved in together as their relationship became more intimate.

The engineer finally decided to marry his co-worker. They soon became parents to a daughter. Seema was furious when she found out that her husband had remarried.

She went to see him, but they did not agree. Seema then returned to Gwalior and filed a case against her husband for financial help for her son.

How did the couple navigate this unique marriage?

The couple sought counseling and discussed the matter back and forth. The spouse warned Seema that her son would not receive adequate financial assistance and pushed for an alternative approach.

According to mediator and counselor Harish Dewan, the couple reached an agreement. According to the agreement, the husband had to divide his week equally between the two wives and her children.

Each of the wives had three days off. The spouse saved Sunday to enjoy some quality time alone. The women were also allotted two separate apartments in Gurugram.
