22-year-old man dies in shooting caught on camera at packed hibachi restaurant: report

Police in Massachusetts are searching for a gunman who reportedly opened fire at a busy hibachi restaurant in Brockton, leaving a young man dead in what police say was a targeted attack.

The victim, Joe Araujo, 22, was sitting among a crowd of other diners at the Hibachi Supreme Buffet on Crescent Street around 7:30 p.m. Friday when an armed man in a hoodie approached his booth, pulled out gun and put at least one shot through him at point-blank range, according to CBS News Boston.

The shooting caught on camera, which occurred just a few feet from a boy who had just sat down at a neighboring stall with a plate full of food, sent other customers running for the door.

Although police say the public should not worry, officers are on high alert and combing the area in a desperate search for the suspect.

“It’s terrible. I mean, you bring a kid to dinner and you don’t think something like that is going to happen,” John Monagle, a Brockton man who often eats at the buffet, told the station.
