400 police search for fugitive killer Danelo Cavalcante after 2 new sightings in Pennsylvania

At least 400 officers, some working 12-hour days, are searching for a dangerous escaped convict, who continues to elude them despite multiple sightings in Pennsylvania.

It’s been 10 days since convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante climbed a wall at the Chester County Jail and snuck to freedom.

There have been nearly a dozen confirmed sightings, including two on Friday, in Chester County since the 34-year-old Brazilian national’s escape on August 31, and officials have assigned more police to the search, CNN reported Saturday.

“Last night we brought in more people overnight,” Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens said Friday, adding that state police and other agencies have sent reinforcements.

“We have numerous tactical teams conducting searches.”

State police described Cavalcante as extremely dangerous.

Cavalcante was recently sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally stabbing Deborah Brandao, 33, his ex-girlfriend, while her 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were present in 2021.

He was awaiting transfer to a state facility when he escaped from the Chester County Jail last week by scaling a wall, climbing barbed wire and jumping from a roof to a less secure area to elude guards.

A tower guard who “did not see” or report the killer’s escape nine days ago was fired Thursday. The guard, an 18-year veteran of the prison, has not yet been identified.
