When did this incident occur?
On Thursday, the boy was scheduled to fly from Philadelphia International Airport to Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. However, the boy was “improperly boarded” on a flight to Orlando, which was four hours from his original destination.
What did the family say?
Maria Ramos, the boy’s grandmother, told Wink News about her trauma and said she became worried when her grandson didn’t board the plane in Fort Myers.
”They told me I wasn’t on this flight. She was late for her flight. “No, I couldn’t miss your flight since I have the check-in tag,” I said. ‘Where is my grandson?’ I asked the flight attendant as she ran onto the plane. Did they deliver it to you in Philadelphia?
“No, I didn’t have children with me,” she replied.
Where did the boy land safely?
The boy later called to say he had landed safely in Orlando. His luggage arrived safely in Fort Myers as scheduled. Ramos then drove four hours to pick up the six-year-old girl and described the incident as one of the most horrific of her life. Spirit Airlines offered to pay Ramos for the trip.
How did the airline react?
Spirit Airlines apologized to the family in an emailed message to CNN.
“The child was always under the care and supervision of a member of the Spirit Team, and as soon as we discovered the error, we took immediate steps to contact the family and reconnect them,” the company said in a statement provided to CNN.
The message did not explain how the error occurred, but a spokeswoman said an internal review was underway.
