The man is seen standing on a platform in video posted on RPF India’s official Twitter page before suddenly falling onto the tracks. Officer K Sumathi noticed the man on the other platform as he forced himself to lie down.
Just as a fast moving train was about to pass through the train station, the officer reacted quickly and jumped onto the tracks to drive the man away. A short time later, he was seen with two other men assisting the RPF agent during the rescue.
“Lady Constable K Sumathi fearlessly pulled a person off the track moments before a speeding train passed by at Purwa Medinipur railway station. Congratulations on her commitment to passenger safety,” RPF India tweeted.
The internet praised the officer’s efforts

One man noted: “Kudos to that officer for her quick reaction, but I felt so sorry for that poor soul who tried to give her life. Those who have been there will know how hard it is to be alone even when you have so many around you. I hope life treats him well.”
