Hannah Nicolaisen, 24, is a native of Houston, Texas and graduated from the University of Illinois. She currently resides in Montgomery, Alabama, and plays live music. In addition to receiving her degree in Exercise Science in 2022, Hannah played Division 2 volleyball at the University of Illinois at Springfield. She also participated in TEDxUofISpringfield.
She served as a professional student mentor while in college. She eventually left her job as an IT recruiter and became a full-time musician. Hannah studied physics, engineering and mathematics at Cowley College and Cypress Woods High School in Kansas, before transferring to the University of Illinois. She later earned a master’s degree in psychology.
In 2023, she participated as a contestant on season 21 of American Idol, with the trio of judges: Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. At the audition she performed the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” by Elton John.
