This year, a man from Florida (USA) won $1.6 billion with a two-dollar lottery ticket. He was unknown since September, but his identity has finally been revealed.

This winning ticket from the August 8th drawing was first claimed on September 27th. For 90 days after the claim date, Florida law prohibits public disclosure of the names of winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or more.
The Florida Lottery has revealed the identity of the winner, Saltines Holdings LLC, who claimed the prize.
Why did this lottery make history?
The $1.6 billion lottery jackpot is the largest in Mega Millions history and the fourth largest in U.S. history. When the lottery was first announced, it was unknown whether the winner would receive a one-time payment or an annual payment.
The winner finally opted for a single payment. Surprisingly, the five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball number matched. The lottery ticket was allegedly purchased at Publix at 630 Atlantic Blvd in Neptune Beach, east of Jacksonville.
How does the supermarket also benefit?
The grocery store will also receive an additional commission of $100,000 (around Rs 83 lakh) for selling the winning ticket.
The statement was made by the Florida Lottery on its X account (formerly known as Twitter). “Historic moment!” read the title. Florida-based Saltines Holdings, LLC is the sole winner of the incredible $1.6 billion MEGA MILLIONS jackpot! The life-changing Quick Pick ticket was obtained at a Neptune Beach Publix. “A toast to dreams come true!”
