Anti-Hamas billboard removed in New Jersey after more than 100 complaint calls to police

A sign on Route 80 in Bergen County, New Jersey, that read: “Oh, don’t be naive. Hamas would cut your head off too,” was removed after police received more than 100 calls with complaints about it.

“This anti-Hamas sign on Route 80 in the Bogotá district led to more than 100 calls to the police before it was removed by organizers,” said Shlomo Schorr, associate director of Agudath Israel of America’s office in New Jersey. published in X.

The sign was reportedly put up by the organization JewBelong, which “denounces hatred of Jews,” according to its website.

“Our unique pink and white billboards, billboard trucks, website, and strong social media presence powerfully confront anti-Semitism and support joyful Judaism,” the site states.

Bogotá police said they were aware of the sign and that there were no criminal violations related to it, NJ Advance Media reported.

“Our police department works closely with federal, state and county agencies to ensure the safety of our community,” the department said in a Facebook post, noting that it had no control over the sign because it was private property. “There have been no threats to our community and we are investigating the matter to ensure all community members remain safe.”

Another of JewBelong’s signs, located in California, was recently painted with graffiti.

The Foundation to Combat Antisemitism posted a photo of the sign in, which said: “We are only 75 years since the gas chambers. So no, a poster denouncing anti-Semitism is not an overreaction.”
