Wilmer Becerra has become one of the best-known characters in Colombia after revealing that he is facing a legal battle against Apple, the technology giant founded by Steve Jobs.
Becerra is the owner of the company Wiltech, he received a letter from the American law firm Baker McKenzie in which they indicated that they were representing Apple to make some requests and avoid reaching higher legal levels.
“Apple has the exclusive right to use the Apple Brands, to allow its licensees and authorized resellers to use the Apple Brands and to prevent others from using the Apple Brands without its consent,” reads a part of the document that the Colombian distributed on their social media profiles.

Although it seems exaggerated for a giant company to target a technological device repairer, the social networks of the aforementioned Colombian company have important numbers.

He has more than 220,000 followers on Instagram, more than 6 million on Facebook, more than 5 million on TikTok and has 147,000 subscribers on YouTube.
His work became popular when he began to do live repairs, both with his clients in front and in broadcasts on digital platforms.
In this way, he sought to guarantee the quality of his work and that the labor and spare parts he used be verified.
The “Wiltech” brand became better known on networks and has repair points in other countries on the American continent: Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico and Guatemala, according to its data.
How is the legal process against Apple going?
Becerra has expressed his interest in acquiring the Apple franchise in Colombia, but he fears that the multinational will prevent him from continuing with the repairs he is currently carrying out.
With the aim of reaching an agreement, he has offered an alliance to the American giant to provide customers with a more accessible repair concept. He pointed out that the regulations that exist in the United States are an aspect that he considers essential for his case.
Despite the challenges, Becerra is determined to continue his work and provide his Apple equipment repair services. In addition, after his case was made public, he points out that he has received proposals from renowned lawyers in Colombia willing to offer his help in this legal battle.
If he is called to trial, the Colombian could face a prison sentence of 4 to 8 years and the payment of financial compensation.
