Eligibility Criteria for Ayushman Bharat Card

PM-JAY scheme aims to provide healthcare services to low-income and disadvantaged families in India. Its aim is to provide healthcare facilities to 10 million families with Rs. 5 Lakhs per family. The Rs 10 crore families targeted will be from both rural and urban families. Approximately 08 million families will be from rural areas, while 02 million families will be from urban areas. But the government has established some eligibility criteria for rural and urban families to obtain the benefits of the plan.

Below is the list of criteria that must be fulfilled by the candidate to be eligible for the Ayushman Card:

RURAL:

  1. Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST) candidates will be eligible.
  2. Families without adult members between the ages of 16 and 59 will be eligible.
  3. Beggars and other people surviving in slums will be eligible.
  4. Families living in a room with kucha walls and ceiling will be eligible.
  5. Families with at least one disabled member and no able-bodied adult members will be eligible.
  6. Landless households that generate a significant portion of their income from casual manual work will be eligible.
  7. Families without members between 16 and 59 years old will be eligible.
  8. Bonded laborer families and primitive and vulnerable tribal groups will be eligible.

URBAN:

  1. Ragpickers, beggars and domestic workers will be eligible.
  2. Washer, Chowkidar will be eligible.
  3. Street sweepers, sanitation workers, malians, plumbers, laborers, painters, security guards, coolies, and other heavy-headed workers will be eligible.
  4. Construction workers, electricians, mechanics, assemblers, repairers, tailors, craftsmen, home workers and artisans will also be eligible.
  5. Street vendors, shoemakers, street vendors and other services provided on the streets will be eligible.
  6. Transport workers, Drivers, Reviewers, Assistant drivers and reviewers, and Car and Rickshaw pullers will be eligible.
  7. Pawns from small establishments, Assistants, trade operators, assistants, delivery men, ushers and waiters will also be eligible.
