President Biden on Saturday lashed out at Hamas for carrying out the “worst massacres of the Jewish people since the Holocaust” while putting the lives of his own Palestinian people at risk.
“More than 1,300 innocent lives have been lost in Israel, including at least 27 Americans. Children and grandparents kidnapped and held hostage by Hamas,” the commander-in-chief said during his speech at the Human Rights Campaign’s annual dinner.
“The humanitarian crisis in Gaza: innocent Palestinian families (and the vast majority have nothing to do with Hamas) are being used as human shields.”
Biden has been forceful in his condemnation of the “pure evil” that Hamas terrorists carried out on October 7, when they launched a multi-front invasion of Israel.
After massacring innocent civilians (including hundreds of babies), the violent group seized up to 150 hostages and dragged them to the Gaza Strip, which Israel has relentlessly bombed in an effort to recover its kidnapped people.
Biden told the crowd that he spent an hour Friday speaking with the families of the 16 missing Americans who disappeared in Israel or are being held hostage in the Gaza Strip.
Grieving families suffer the “agony” of the unknown, he said.

Biden compared his grief to the moment he discovered that his first wife, Neilia, and daughter Naomi died in a car accident in 1972, leaving his sons Beau and Hunter in unknown conditions.
“The uncertainty in those two or three hours trying to get back to find out is the worst feeling in the world, it’s heartbreaking,” the president said before quickly returning to the war instigated by terrorism.
“It’s yet another reminder that hate never goes away. It just hides. It hides under the rocks.”

“A week ago we saw the hatred manifested in the worst massacres of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.”
Biden’s speech focused heavily on LGBTQ+ issues, especially transgender rights, which have become a major point of discussion in debates and campaigns in the 2024 presidential campaign.
The Democratic incumbent reiterated his promise to protect LGBTQ+ people and touted legislation his administration worked to pass, including eliminating the “outdated” policy prohibiting gay and bisexual men from donating blood.

“This is the United States of America! And MAGA Republican extremists are trying to undo virtually all of the progress we’ve made,” Biden said before listing several policies Republican leaders have been pushing, such as banning pride flags from flying on public lands.
“Who the hell -?” Biden began before stopping, noting that the curse was “not very presidential.”
