Biden reveals his New Year’s resolution: ‘Come back next year’

With 2024 just around the corner, President Biden revealed his New Year’s resolution.

“Mr. President, what is your New Year’s resolution, sir?” a reporter asked Biden Saturday night as he left the Too Chez restaurant and bar in St. Croix, where he and first lady Jill Biden dined with his granddaughter Natalie.

“Come back next year,” the president joked, before adding, “that’s the most important one right now.”

Biden has been vacationing in St. Croix, located in the US Virgin Islands, since last week, and will return to Washington, DC on Tuesday.

Their six-day getaway involved a secluded stay at the lush beachfront home of wealthy patrons Bill and Connie Neville.

The 81-year-old faces a competitive battle for re-election in 2024.

Polls have shown him largely underwater as he faces former President Donald Trump, the front-runner for the Republican nomination.

Both men appear poised for a rematch of the 2020 election, where Biden emerged victorious.

“If Trump didn’t run, I’m not sure I would run,” Biden said at a fundraising event near Boston earlier this month.

“We can’t let him win.”

Biden’s allies have brushed aside the series of lackluster polls, emphasizing the president’s record of exceeding the expectations of the expert class.

“Time and time again, Biden exceeds expectations. It happened in 2020, it happened in 2022, it happened Tuesday night,” communications director Michael Tyler told reporters in November.

Tyler’s comments came after Democrats scored several victories in Ohio, New Jersey, Kentucky, Virginia and elsewhere in off-year elections.

“You see days, weeks, months of breathless predictions about how terrible things will be for Joe Biden,” he added, “followed by an election day of historic victories.”

If Biden or Trump were to win the November 5, 2024 election and serve a full term, they would become the longest-serving president in U.S. history, a title Biden currently enjoys.
