BJP Announces Candidates for Kerala By-Elections:- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced contenders for the Party’s upcoming by-elections in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Monday. The by-elections are scheduled to take place on September 5 and the recount will be on September 8.

For Kerala’s Puthuppally constituency, the BJP has appointed Lijinlal G. In Uttar Pradesh’s Ghosi, Dara Singh Chauhan will remain the party’s contender, while in Uttarakhand’s Bageshwar (a reserved constituency for Reserved Positions), Parvati Das will be the face of the BJP.

The BJP’s candidate for Ghosi’s by-election, OBC pioneer Dara Singh Chauhan, recently introduced, rejoined the gathering after a stint in the Samajwadi Party (SP). The OBCs rule supporters of the Ghosi Party, and in the last six Assembly elections, Ghosi’s constituents have elected an OBC MLA multiple times. The unexpected death of BJP’s Chandan Slam Dass has necessitated by-election in Uttarakhand’s Bageshwar.

By-elections for the electorate of seven Assembly bodies in six states will be held on September 5 with results to be reported on September 8. Apart from Puthuppally, Ghosi and Bageshwar, elections will be held for Dumri seat in Jharkhand, two seats in Tripura (counting Dhanpur) and Dhupguri in West Bengal.

Dara Singh Chauhan returned to the BJP

Former SP MLA Dara Singh Chauhan returned to the BJP in July this year. Chouhan had submitted his acquiescence to Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana on July 15. Chouhan was an MLA in the previous Yogi Adityanath government, but he surrendered before the 2022 Assembly elections and joined the SP. The party has given way to Linjinlalji from Puthupalli in Kerala and Parvati Das from Bageshwar in Uttarakhand.

Bypolls on seven assembly seats

By-elections for seven assembled seats in Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Kerala, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttarakhand will be observer by-elections on September 5. The recount of votes will take place on September 8. By-elections will be held for two seats in Tripura and one seat each in Kerala, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The political race for Dumri’s assembly seat in Jharkhand was left empty after the demise of MLA Jagarnath Mahto. The Boxanagar and Dhanpur seats in Tripura will be up for vote due to the end of the term of MLA Samsul Haque and the abdication of Pratima Bhoumik.

The Dhupguri rally seat in West Bengal emptied after the demise of the Bishnu Pada Beam part of the party. Bageshwar’s seat in Uttarakhand was vacated after the end of the MLA Chandan Slam Das session. Chandy was the MLA for the Puthuppally headquarters in Kerala. He headed the headquarters for more than 50 years.
