Where did the historic skydiving take place?
Dorothy Hoffner, four years after her initial jump, accomplished this historic skydiving feat with the help of tandem jumper Derek Baxter, surrounded by a cheering crowd of fans in Ottawa, Illinois.
Upon landing, images captured of the event show the 104-year-old, accompanied by Baxter and a friend, acknowledging the crowd of onlookers who had gathered to witness this momentous occasion.

The woman who surprised people with her bravery and vigor in the face of life’s many emotions shared that things are heating up for her. When she was asked about her future plans, Hoffner said, “You never know.”
Although Hoffner did not confirm any of his daring plans to reporters, he did mention his hopes of completing a third dive. With that, he also hopes to ride in a hot air balloon. “I’ve never been on one,” the 104-year-old reasoned.
When asked how she felt about holding the world record, which is currently unofficial, she responded: “As if I were old.” Hoffner soon expressed her opinion on the matter, telling reporters, “Age is just a number, you know?”
Who held the record before Dorothy?
Before Dorothy Hoffner’s notable achievement, Rut Linnea Ingegard Larsson of Sweden was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest skydiver. Larsson obtained this title in May 2022, when she was 103 years old.
Currently, 104-year-old Dorothy does not hold the official world record. However, Skydive Chicago is working with Guinness World Records to officially certify Hoffner’s historic jump, FOX 32 Chicago reports.
