Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is receiving harsh criticism for his “Merry Christmas” holiday message as the state struggles for resources while battling a major immigration crisis, just days after Denver received 16 busloads of migrants.
Polis, 48, was seen dancing happily while performing an a cappella performance of the 1970 hit song by Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Feliciano on Monday.
The legislator published the video for his social media followers under his Spanish official accountwhere some viewers based the embarrassing clip and then shared it on their multiple official platforms.
“As embarrassing as this is, it can’t compare to the damage you’ve done to this state,” one X user commented on the governor’s posts.
“This is one of the worst things I’ve seen all year. “Who walked into his office and said it was a good idea…” another questioned.
“Even Latinos are embarrassed,” one user joked.
Some even suggested that Polis was “pandering” to the growing Latino community in the state.
“This is ridiculous and you look as uncomfortable doing it as I do watching it. What was the real purpose of this? one user wrote in Spanish below the video. “Because if I was of Latin descent, I would make fun of you instead of thinking, ‘Oh yeah, I’m going to vote for that guy.’”

The governor’s questionable dance moves and off-key singing come in the wake of at least 340 migrants being dropped off in Denver in less than 24 hours between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to CBS News.
Many migrants arrived from Texas after traveling from Venezuela, Colombia and Guatemala.
