‘I speak the way I want’: a Mexican married to a Honduran man claims that his accent ‘got on’ her

Daisy Daira García is a young Mexican-American who has been married for six years to the Honduran man, Jander García, with whom she has two children.

The young woman is dedicated to creating content for social networks, where she shows her daily life, shares recipes from both countries and makes comedy videos.

In most of the videos she shares on TikTok, where she has 1.5 million followers, people have questioned her because she speaks as a Honduran and not as a Mexican.

“I have been with my husband for six and a half years, or a little more, and their accent has rubbed off on me (…) and I speak however I want, whether they like it or not,” Daisy answered.

Likewise, she said that her husband’s grandmother was the one who taught her how to cook with catracho seasoning, dishes ranging from spaghetti to baleadas.

“You are already Honduran at heart, there is no doubt about that”; “Thank you, baby, for sharing recipes from my Honduras” and “whoever tries Honduran food falls in love,” are some of the comments she receives.

The couple lives in the United States, has their own house, cars and their own business, according to what the Mexican woman shows on social networks.
