In addition, British aviation specialists anticipate an innovative aircraft capable of flying anywhere on the planet in less than two hours, promising amazing speed and efficiency.
The X-59, which is smaller and slower than the Concorde, has a top speed of around 1,500 kilometers per hour and promises to cut travel time from New York to London by about 3 hours and 30 minutes.
However, groundbreaking tests are underway, according to a report by Britain’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), with the potential to significantly increase travel speeds.
These advances can allow travelers to fly from London to cities like Sydney in less than two hours, a significant improvement over the current 22-hour journey. Experts now refer to these groundbreaking trips as suborbital flights.
Suborbital flights will mimic rockets
Suborbital flights, in essence, mimic the rockets used by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic jet program. Traveling at an incredible speed of 3,500 miles per hour, or 5,632 km per hour, these planes offer significant time-saving prospects.
For example, instead of the current 15-hour drive, you can go from New York to Shanghai in 39 minutes. A trip from New York to London, for example, can be completed in less than an hour. Additionally, suborbital missions have the ability to visit any location on Earth in less than two hours.
According to the New York Post, Elon Musk and other businessmen are focusing their efforts on supersonic flights in preparation for space tourism. SpaceX unveiled its plans for the Starship rocket in 2020, with the goal of carrying 100 passengers between continents in less than an hour.
Meanwhile, a Chinese company recently claimed successful testing of its winged rocket. The first manned flight is scheduled for the following year, 2024. In particular, the Tianxing I spacecraft, which launched in 2018, is capable of traveling around 4,300 miles in less than an hour.
