Cops hunt ‘armed and dangerous’ father of 4 who killed wife in Massachusetts bedroom before kids ran to neighbor for help

A Massachusetts mother was found dead inside her home Sunday and police launched a search for her “armed and dangerous” husband after her four young children alerted a neighbor to the gruesome crime, according to authorities.

Officers from multiple agencies are searching for Aaron Pennington, 33, in connection with the death of his wife, Breanne Pennington, 30, in the town of Gardner, Massachusetts State Police said in news releases.

Breanne Pennington was found by police in an upstairs bedroom with an apparent gunshot wound to the face Sunday morning, according to a criminal complaint request obtained by WCVB.

The discovery came after the couple’s four children, ages 2, 5, 7 and 9, went to a neighbor’s house to ask for help, the document states.

“Four children came to her house scared because they couldn’t find their father and their mother was crying in her room,” one police officer wrote in the application.

“The four children were known to reside with their parents at 42 Cherry Street in the City of Gardner. “The children also stated that their father’s vehicle was no longer in the driveway of the residence.”

Along with the victim, three bullet casings were found in the bedroom, but no gun, WCVB reported.

Police found his white 2013 BMW Monday afternoon at a Boy Scout camp in Gardner, CBS News reported, but Pennington was not in the vehicle.

If anyone sees Pennington, they are advised not to approach him and call 911, police said.

“Pennington may be armed with a firearm,” police stated. “He should be considered armed and dangerous.”

In the latest development in the search Monday, Gardner police issued a shelter-in-place order for residents near a part of the city that is heavily forested, Gardner News reported.

So far, the husband has been charged with possession of a firearm without a license to carry, the Telegram and Gazette reported.

Authorities are searching for Aaron Pennington. Mass State Police his four children alerted neighbors that his father’s car was no longer in the driveway.

Investigators said the couple had been facing “marital issues for quite some time,” according to police documents reported by the news outlet.

Breanne Pennington planned to move to Texas with her children to get away from her husband, police said.

He was known to have a gun in the house for protection, police doctors said, while noting that Aaron Pennington has “mental problems and had threatened suicide.”

The four children are in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families, the Telegram and Gazette reported.
