He must have been nervous!
This week, an Arkansas cowboy was forced to rescue a calf stranded in a neighbor’s frozen pond.
“We just drove the truck to the pond and ran there, we arrived [the calf] He tied it up and pulled it out,” Max Bishop, of Paragould, told KAIT about the moment Caleb Albritton alerted him to the calf stuck in the pond.
Bishop used a large lasso to reach the cold animal and carry it to safety, the video shows.
Due to recent surgery, Bishop struggled at first: He lost the rope on the first attempt, but managed to wrap the calf on the second attempt, KAIT explained.
“It was really lucky because where the calf was, the ice had already started to break up and melt,” he said of the last-minute rescue.

The calf’s owner, John Lane, said winter is the worst time of year for his herd.
“When the ponds melt, calves will continue to come out of them, and before you know it. I have already lost five calves,” she lamented.
