The owner of a Delaware daycare center and her lackey were arrested for running a drug trafficking operation from a preschool at home, officials announced Thursday.
Jessica Cooper, 29, and Cameron Christmas, 33, were arrested on a series of drug and firearms charges after narcotics investigators arrived at The Little Peoples LFCC 2 shortly after noon Wednesday, while the party The daycare center at her business was open during the day.
Inside the disguised drug pit, cops found 93 grams of cocaine, 26 grams of crack cocaine, 302 bags of heroin, two handguns and more than $32,000.
“Four children were at the daycare at the time of the search warrant,” the Dover Police Department said.
Cooper, who is listed as the owner of the daycare, and Christmas are charged with drug possession, drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a prohibited person, child endangerment, conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Christmas was being held on cash bail of more than $93,000. Cooper was being held on a secured bond set at $49,700.
The couple has apparently been in cahoots for several years and both have had previous run-ins with the law, records show.

Cooper posted bail of $450 Christmas in 2021 after he was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, according to court records. Another arrest warrant was later issued for him for failing to appear at trial.
Christmas has two prior arrests on drug charges, the most recent of which was him being ordered to pay a fine and court costs after pleading guilty in 2022.
Court records show he violated a zero-tolerance drug policy, failed to attend meetings or hearings, and failed to complete assignments after he was allowed to enter a diversion program for his 2018 drug arrest.

Meanwhile, Cooper was charged in 2020 with hindering prosecution, although the charge was later dropped.
It’s unclear what led to a search at the daycare, but Christmas has several drug arrests on his record and The Little Peoples LFCC 2 got into trouble after its September inspection.
The school, which is advertised on child care websites as a home daycare that “encourages the development of social skills in a safe and loving environment,” was cited for failure to comply with standards regarding communication with parents, outdoor areas and maintaining children’s files.

Cooper is listed as the registered agent for The Little Peoples LFCC 2 and co-owner of the residential property. His partner, who was not arrested, is also a registered agent.
The business welcomes children between 1 and 12 years old.

Little Peoples LFCC 2 received several slaps on the wrist during its September 2023 inspection, when it was cited for noncompliance for having poor communication with parents, having doors that did not close properly, and failing to keep children’s files in order.
Inspectors found that two children needed blood lead test results and one needed a health evaluation and immunization record.
