Erickson said he spoke briefly with Federal Bureau of Prisons officials on Monday, who “basically didn’t tell me anything because it was an active investigation.”
Erickson said Chauvin felt he was “doing well” in the medium-security federal prison and had not raised any concerns about his safety beyond those associated with being a former law enforcement officer in prison.
“I think he feels threatened 24/7, but I don’t think he indicated that he felt in additional danger,” the attorney told The Post.

Prison employees had to take “life-saving measures” before Chauvin was hospitalized, the Bureau of Prisons said.
The federal agency added that the alleged attacker was also taken to the hospital, but the perpetrator has not yet been identified.
Chauvin, 47, was found guilty in April 2021 of second-degree involuntary murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s death. He was sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison on the state charges.
Months later, he pleaded guilty to federal charges of depriving Floyd of his civil rights and was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
