Phil Smith, a 59-year-old online shopper from Blackburn, England, received a nasty surprise when his order of groceries from Iceland worth $186 (Rs 15,000) spilled human excrement along with the expected groceries.
What happened?
Smith had a heartbreaking experience when she excitedly opened her online grocery delivery service and found an unpleasant surprise she wasn’t expecting. “All this poop fell out and I was totally shocked. I was like, ‘What the hell is this?'” Smith told SWNS.
The customer clearly stated that a serious incident made his experience with Iceland’s online ordering platform unpleasant, so he would not use it again.
“There are no other words. If I wanted to be covered in shit, I’d go to ‘I’m A Celebrity’.” joked the apprehensive Smith.
Upset by the disturbing discovery, Smith contacted Iceland and urged them to fix the problem quickly. However, he was not happy with his first response.
“For the last few days they have been frivolous with me.”
Even after receiving store credits, Smith insisted on getting a refund and removing the contaminated items. Unfortunately, this process took several days, which further upset the customer.
How did the authorities react?
To go further, Smith called in a health inspector to investigate the local Iceland branch.
In response, the company stated that they are conducting an internal investigation into the disturbing discovery of human waste in delivered food, SWNS was told.
This situation is part of a series of strange delivery mishaps. One example is a Brooklyn man who received someone else’s ashes in the mail last winter. One TikTok user also received new boots that were already worn out and disgustingly dirty.
