Trump claimed his access to the microblogging site not only with his mugshot, but also urged people to donate towards his upcoming run for president in 2024. Trump was previously banned from the public platform following the ordeal of January 6, 2021. During this time, his supporters stormed and attacked the United States Capitol building in Washington, DC.
At the time, the app launched with the verdict that the right thing to do was for Trump to be banned from the platform. However, when Elon Musk took the reins of Twitter, on November 16 of last year it was announced that this verdict would be overturned. So what? Thus, Trump returned to X.
While Twitter decided to permanently suspend Trump’s account on the social network in January 2021, citing the risk of further incitement to violence, billionaire Musk took it back and proclaimed his status as a “free speech absolutist.”

Now, Trump is back for more. Although he is still dealing with the four charges brought against him in New York and Georgia, he saw fit to release the mugshot of him with the words: “ELECTION INTERFERENCE! NEVER GIVE UP!” pasted on a billboard.

With his post on Thursday, Trump broke his own word that he would only stick to his social media platform, Truth Social. The app has been developed by his startup Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG). He even had a huge audience on the app. As of Thursday, Trump had 6.4 million followers on Truth Social.
Trump caused a stir with his post, as his supporters and enemies alike came together to interact with it. Even Elon Musk commented and commemorated the moment.
