Evangelical Christian feminists created the Evangelical and Ecumenical Women’s Caucus (EEWC), commonly known as Christian Feminism Today (CFT), in 1974. Because it was founded as a caucus within Evangelicals for Social Action, which had published the “Statement Chicago,” was first known as the Evangelical Women’s Caucus (EWC). Its goal is to “support, educate, and celebrate Christian feminists of many traditions.” He called for the use of gender-inclusive language in all communications, supported passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, and encouraged the ordination of women.
