A former “incel” faces federal charges after he allegedly threatened to shoot “chads and stacies” at the University of Arizona on a “day of retribution.”
Michael Pengchung Lee, 27, made serious threats against life on the Greek campus via Snapchat on Sunday, warning in a message that there would be a “tragedy and mass atrocity” at the university, according to a federal complaint filed this week.

After Lee’s arrest, he told authorities that he was frustrated with his home life and was venting in a group chat with friends, the complaint states.
“He stated that he was a former member of the incel community but was no longer one,” the document states. “He tried to buy a firearm two months ago but decided against it.”
Lee was charged with one state count of making a terroristic threat before being charged federally with making online threats.
Campus police were first alerted to the threat Sunday night, the University of Arizona said in a note to the school community.
Once the suspect was identified, he was monitored for 24 hours before his arrest, the school also said.
“There is no current or pending threat to the university community from this individual, and no other individuals are being sought,” the university said.
