Tracey Edmonds: the woman who stole the heart of Deion Sanders
A former multi-sport professional athlete who competed in both the Super Bowl and World Series, Sanders now devotes his time and efforts mentoring the next generation of players.
Meanwhile, Edmonds has a long track record that includes building his production company and winning an Emmy. Sanders and Edmonds initially met in 2012 at the premiere of a film produced by Edmonds.
They spoke again for a few months when a business meeting brought them together. The rest, as they say, is history. “It was a blessing to my life,” Sanders said of his meeting with Edmonds, whom he calls a “graceful, professional, real woman.”
The couple currently lives on their ranch in Canton, Texas, but they also spend a lot of time in Boulder, Colorado, where Sanders coaches NCAA football, and in Atlanta and Los Angeles, where Edmonds films.
Sanders and Edmonds’ careers, while incredibly successful in their own right, keep them apart at times. But according to Sanders, seeing each other fulfilling their ambitions makes it all worth it.
“I mean, I don’t take anything she does for granted, and the shows she chooses to produce are meaningful, they have substance, they’re informative and challenging, and I love that,” he said.
So who exactly is Deion Sanders’ fiancee? Here’s everything you need to know about Tracey Edmonds and his connection to the football coach at the University of Colorado.
It’s no surprise that she’s a Hollywood producer and businesswoman.
Edmonds has been a producer in the film and television industries for nearly 25 years. In 2018, he founded his own production company, Edmonds Entertainment Group, of which he is the CEO and his lifestyle brand.
Edmonds has worked on several notable projects, including BET’s first reality series, College Hill. The show aired six seasons before being resurrected as College Hill: Celebrity Edition. Edmonds has also worked on Netflix’s End of the Road, BET’s Games People Play and The Postcard Killings.
Edmonds has also worked as a television journalist. From 2014 to 2017, she co-hosted ExtraTV with Mario Lopez and Charissa Thompson, for which she received an Emmy Award. Edmonds is currently a member of the Producer Guild of America. Edmonds launched her own YouTube channel of hers in May 2023, dedicated to her “new chapter of her life on Hilton Head”. Your past relationships
Prior to her relationship with Sanders, Edmonds was in a high-profile relationship for nearly 15 years with singer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmond. Brandon and Dylan are the couple’s two sons. They were married from 1992 to 2005.
Edmonds later began dating actor Eddie Murphy, whom she became engaged to in 2007. A rep for Murphy told PEOPLE at the time, “Tracey and Eddie are very much in love and excited to spend the rest of their lives together.”
On January 1, 2008, they were married in a “simply perfect” symbolic wedding on a private island in French Polynesia. However, they announced their separation 12 days later.
Murphy and Edmonds stated in an official separation announcement that “our relationship does not need to be further defined.” Still, a wedding guest told PEOPLE that attendees “could hear them scream” and that things were “pretty dramatic.”
While Babyface didn’t think Edmonds and Murphy’s relationship was “for the best,” he did tell Oprah Winfrey that Sanders is “a nice guy.” The musician said on Oprah’s Next Chapter that Sanders reached out to him before he met his children.
“I knew Deion Mr. Prime Time seems like a nice guy,” Babyface told HuffPost. “But he turned into a fancy guy when he called and said he didn’t want to meet my kids until he sat down and had lunch or breakfast with me, so he met me before he met my kids.”
In 2012, she met Sanders for the first time.
Edmonds had no intention of falling for a two-time Super Bowl champion. “I would never have imagined in a million years that our paths would cross and we would end up in a relationship together,” the Hollywood mogul previously told PEOPLE.
The two first met at a movie premiere party in 2012. Sanders was a visitor and Edmonds, who worked on the film’s production, was one of the evening’s honorees. While their connection was limited, Edmonds was able to make Sanders lose his mind in the short time they were together.
He used the help of a friend to get his business card and then contacted her a few months later, but at first he kept things completely professional.
Tracey and Sanders took the next step in their relationship in February 2019.
The Hollywood producer was delighted to share the news of his engagement with his fans on social media.
