On Sunday June 25, 2023, a tragic car accident occurred in Fort Myers Lake where five young adults were found dead in a car. The four crash victims were reportedly out of shift at a local restaurant when a Kia car carrying 18- to 19-year-olds plunged into a pond. The four young adults, identified as Jackson Eyre, Amanda Ferguson, Eric Cox and Breanna Coleman, worked at The Texas Roadhouse restaurant chain. The first victim of the accident was Breanna Coleman’s girlfriend named Jesus Salinas. Speaking of the cause of the accident, the vehicle crashed into a retention pond on Top Golf Way which took place on Sunday, June 25, sometime between 10:00 pm and early Monday morning. FMPD officers removed the car from Fort Myers Lake. Detective Kyl Martin said: “The investigation is in its infancy.” Furthermore, he added: “We are still completing an investigation, so there are not many details that we can provide as to the mechanisms or what happened at this time, so it is still ongoing.”
