Google Bard prepares a new ‘Memory’ function to improve personalization

As the world of AI evolves, Google appears to be working on a new feature for its chatbot to make it more adaptable.

According to 9to5Google, the corporation is working to add “Memory” to its conversational AI software, Bard. Google will allow users to specify new preferences that the AI will follow when responding to queries or directions through the new Memory page that will accompany the functionality.

The first look revealed an introductory page with the following examples of preferences: “I try to avoid eating meat,” “I have 2 children,” and “Please give shorter answers.” These examples, which are similar to those that users will eventually generate, can be applied to a variety of situations involving food discovery, travel, or finding something interesting to do on the weekend.

While not shown, the company will most likely allow customers to clear their AI preferences from the Memory page in the left-side menu.

Additionally, if you choose to use Memory, the feature will be toggled in the sidebar of the Bard main page. If you don’t want a personalized response, clicking it will eliminate the need for the chatbot to follow your set preferences.

It’s unclear how long we’ll have to wait for Memory to appear on the AI’s dedicated page.

Google’s Bard may not have the best memory (pun intended), but this new preferences feature should eliminate the need to continually remind you of who you are or your situation. As a result, the corporation has begun to move towards more personal use of its AI chatbot through Extensions.

Google said two weeks ago that Bard can now integrate with Gmail, Maps, YouTube and other apps in its app ecosystem. If you enable it, a question you’ve asked Bard can draw on your most recent emails or documents in Drive to provide an answer.

Additionally, the company seems to have big plans for Bard and Google Assistant, as both will be “deeply integrated” with each other in the future.
