Canadian who now serves in the Cabinet of Canada as Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). She is also the Member of Parliament for Markham—Stouffville in the Canadian House of Commons. She previously represented Oak Ridges—Markham in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada from 2007 to 2018. In Kathleen Wynne’s cabinet, she served as Minister of Social and Community Services from 2014 to 2018, and then as Minister of Health and long-term care in 2018.

Jaczek was born in England to a Polish father.[2][3] and an English mother, immigrated to Canada at the age of 12 in 1963. He attended St. Clement School before graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in medicine and a master’s degree in health sciences, as well as a master’s degree. His political career
Jaczek ran for the Liberal Party in Oak Ridges in 2003. Tax rates and health care were among the issues discussed. She was defeated by Frank Klees, the incumbent, by 2,521 votes. In 2007, Jaczek defeated conservative candidate Phil Bannon and New Democrat Janice Hagan by 7,013 votes in the newly created Oak Ridges, Markham. In the 2011 and 2014 elections she was re-elected. Until redistribution in 2018, Oak Ridges-Markham was the most populated route in the province.
On 30 October 2007, Jaczek was appointed Parliamentary Assistant (PA) to the Minister of Health Promotion. She was appointed personal assistant to the Minister of the Environment on September 11, 2009. Jaczek was appointed personal assistant to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care in February 2013. [7] She was head of the Liberal Caucus from 2011 to 2014, under Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne. Public accounts, social policy, government agencies, finance and economic affairs were among the standing committees Jaczek sat on. She served as vice chair of the Standing Committee on General Government during her tenure there.
Additionally, Jaczek served on the Mental Health and Addictions Select Committee. This special committee attended public hearings across the province, visiting mental health and addictions institutions, as well as numerous First Nations communities, to better understand the issues facing Ontario’s mental health and addictions programs. Jaczek introduced a series of private members’ bills. In 2009, he introduced Bill 117, a private member’s bill that would have banned drivers under the age of 15 from operating motorcycles. In September 2010, he joined PC and NDP MPPs in co-sponsoring a private member’s bill to amend the Arthur Wishart (Franchise Disclosure) Act 2000 to better protect potential franchisees. Jaczek introduced Bill 40, a private member’s bill, in March 2012 to declare March 26 as Epilepsy Awareness Day.
